Nikola Keehl is Ivanka’s ex. They have three children together: Jakov, Mihael and Ana. He has an unknown but large number of children with all kinds of other women.

Nikola does some seriously shady business - nobody knows what he‘s really doing. Mihael is convinced Nikola is involved in the Croatian mafia. Mihael often brags, or rather threatens, about it. “My dad is a mafia boss >:(”
Nikola visits the family at the most random times. Behaves like he owns the place. “Ivanka. Coffee.” Naps on the couch for 2 hours.
He’s missing 2 fingertips (leftside pinky and ring finger). Der hat auf ner Baustelle mit nem Kumpel was gesägt mitner Handkreissäge und Nikola hat festgehalten und der Kumpel hat gesägt, zack, Fingerkuppen ab - am Mittelfinger hat er auch noch ne Narbe (von der Säge, same incident)
There are plenty of rumors about him; one more adventurous and unbelievable than the other. but maybe there‘s some truth about all of them. But fact is: he has plenty of children with all kinds of different women. and they all have different stories to tell about him. Here’s some rumors:
- Has a secret daughter in Switzerland. She’s the oldest.
- Sells german built-in kitchen in croatia that get confiscated by customs agents regularly.
- Has a pub and his little kids sell drinks at the bar, play chess or billiard against drunk costumers and earn money on the side like that. One time, police showed up at the pub to arrest him for doing god knows what, he fled unnoticed through the back door and the officers only found his kids running the show in there.
- He’s involved in the croatian mafia if he’s not even the boss himself.
- Nikola has a german uncle, who smuggled jews out of nazi germany. Not because he’s a good guy but he got good money for that.
- Back in his wild years, he took some of his kids on manhunts in Kongo.
- Ivanka caught him with an 18-year-old maid in their bed.
- Once had a seat in croatian parliament as a representative of the germans of croatia.
- He does purchase and sale and if you ask him, also im- and export business. Deals with exotic stuff like used hydraulic lifts, used construction site vehicles, … all stolen of course. Real sneaky.
- Runs yugoslavian internet cafes. The guy working there speaks little to no english and has a list of products with phonetic notes on how to pronounce them on his desk. His name is Ivo and his sons name is Slatko. The front of the cafe is also a kiosk and the backyard is full of super old Windows-95-PCs, really, they’re ancient. With first generation BenQ cathode ray tubes and those old computer mice with the little ball. And the monitors have real bad burnin. In front of the cafe is an incredibly shady cash dispenser, you should absolutely NOT withdraw cash from. They’re selling greek cigarettes in the kiosk you can find basically nowhere else.
It’s called “organised crime” but what Nikola does is everything but organised.
He’s registered at many different apartments.
- At Ivanka’s (sometimes the police shows up)
- At his sister’s in Croatia
- At his parent’s in Croatia (they already passed away and the property has been demolished)
- Somewhere in Turkey (he worked there for 2 years)
On some birthdays, Mihael receives unassuming brown packages with some gifts inside. One time at Wammy‘s he got a used laptop, a plastic motorcycle toy for 5-year-olds, an enormous bottle of the most balkan aftershave you can imagine, some money with weird bad smelling stains on them, a quite expensive looking bar of chocolate (it was really good) and a card that has a lot of space to write but the only thing on it is a handwritten "Sretan ti rođendan, sine moj!”. ("Happy birthday, my son!”) Mihael keeps receiving these kinds of irregular birthday gifts, even when he‘s living in L.A. doing Mafia shit. They always arrive at the correct address. Mihael is seriously spooked by this - like, how the hell...???
Nikola gives Kuna (Croatian money) to his kids and they’re all like “well thanks dad, what do I do with that now…??”
hat sich übel in die Hand geschnitten und das hat sich ganz ekelig entzündet über Wochen und er ist natürlich nicht zum Arzt. Ist an einer Herzattacke gestorben. Mello vermutet einen Kira-Angriff und ist kurze Zeit mega besessen davon und steigert sich viel zu arg rein. Bis er irgendwann einsieht, dass es einfach nur ein langweiliger erklärbarer Tod war. Die Geschwister reagieren alle recht kalt auf Nikolas passing. Ich glaub Mello weint einmal richtig schlimm um Nikola und danach nie wieder. Er weiß auch gar nicht, warum er weint. Vielleicht ists das Kind in ihm, dass seinen Vater mal cool fand. Vielleicht ists, dass er immer vorhatte, irgendwas mit ihm zu resolven und jetzt merkt, es ist zu spät.
Nikola gibt klein Mello mal so eine Ansprache nach einem besonders hasslichen Bully-Zwischenfall in der Schule. Entweder hält sich klein Mello dran und es funktioniert ÜBERHAUPT nicht, weil das andere Kind halt ein Kind ist. ODER Mello kann mit der Info nix anfangen, aber der hat das im Hinterkopf. Später in der Mafia - Szene mit Nikola Voiceover mit genau diesen Tips von damals und slo-mo Mello, der Schritt für Schritt seine Haltung anpasst “lower chin” “eyes up” etc.

Wammy’s Mello, nach dem incident hat auch Nikolas Worte mit “don’t get emotional” im Kopf und er schämt sich so schlimm
