WAMMY’S HOUSE

“Wammy Foundation Academy”, “WFAG” or “The Wammy’s House” for short.
Instead of an orphanage for highly gifted children to become L‘s successors, Wammy‘s is a special boarding school for "twice exceptional“ children. They specialise in the education of intellectually gifted children with learning difficulties that are not able to fully unfold their capacities in a traditional school environment due to mental disorders such as Autism or ADHD. It‘s a really small school, and probably the only one of this kind in the whole UK, with a maximum capacity of 60 students and approx. 20 teachers.
Wammy‘s has kids from all walks of life from all kinds of different ethnicities and backgrounds. Multilingualism is absolutely common there. Many have difficult family relationships and have had a troublesome life.
Wammy‘s House is located in Winchester in the very south of the UK. Wammy’s has a super nostalgic, melancholic vibe. Lots of trauma, many tears. Kyrie eleison.
School motto: “Sub eum mortem cum scientiae vincemus” (Under him we shall conquer death with knowledge), it’s on the gate, the front door of the dorm house and in the canteen. And everyone interprets it the “him” as god being a protective figure but Mello, Near, and I’m sure Beyond has the same connection, interprets the “him” as L.
Wammy’s has nooks and crannies throughout that kids enjoys spending time in, away from the noise and distractions of the other kids where they can read or study or fidget with games in peace without prying eyes on them. The little spaces aren’t always hidden, maybe rooms no one frequents or corners of the library usually unused, there’s even an entrance to the attic that isn’t blocked off that they’ve found.
The sound of large churchbells ringing is pretty much the main theme of Wammy‘s. There are multiple churches all around the area that ring their bells throughout the day and are prominently heard. They can be quite loud at times. There is a bell on the main building of Wammy‘s too but it sounds rather lame and is rarely used. They had a bigger bell once but it’s been destroyed by an aerial bomb during WW2.
There are grotesques (Neidköpfe) on the facade of the dorm house. And in autumn and winter there’s often thick fog on the campus, making everything a little more unsettling than it already is. And the dorm house is a bit run down and pieces of the grotesques are missing.
Überall in den Gängen hängen so Reminder-Schilder “Please no running”-stuff. Und manchmal sind die super spezifisch, wobei man sich denk behind every sign is a story.
DORM HOUSE

The Dorm House is a two-storey manor house: an old, converted building with tall ceilings, wooden floors, and stained-glass windows that cast colourful patches of light across the corridors during the day. The building has a central staircase connecting both floors, as well as two narrow stairwells tucked away at either end of the house.
The floors are separated by gender, with the girls' dorms on the first floor and the boys' dorms on the second. Each floor has two large communal bathrooms, shared by the students living there.
The House common rooms are located on the girls' floor. Since Wammy's historically admits fewer girls than boys, the boys' dormitory floor tends to become considerably more crowded. The girls regularly complain about the boys being too loud in the common rooms.
Each floor also contains two private staff bedrooms, located directly beside the central staircase. The first floor has a room for the Housemistress, while the second floor has one for the Housemaster. Both floors additionally have a room for a social pedagogue. These rooms are occupied by the rotating overnight staff, who take turns sleeping on-site and covering the night shift. The staff members often leave their doors open at night, particularly when they are on duty, making the central staircase a particularly difficult route for anyone attempting to sneak between floors after hours.
Students have a designated "in-your-room" time (21:00 / 9 PM), by which they are expected to return to their own rooms, followed by an official "lights-out" time (22:00 / 10 PM) later in the evening.
The entire house has old wooden flooring that creaks loudly underfoot. Every step, particularly at night, seems to carry through the corridors. The floorboards are notorious among the students, making it nearly impossible to move around the Dorm House unnoticed—especially when the house is quiet.
Winters can get teeth-chattering cold in the dorm house. The pipes are old and in dire need of rennovation.
Offices & maintenance

Das Dorm House, bzw das ganze Gelände liegt in einer ziemlich ruhigen Wohnsiedlung. Ist immer schwierig, einen Parkplatz zu finden.
Roger’s office ist ein bisschen ZU dekadent.
Wammy’s operates a small Health Centre located on the ground floor of the Dorm House. It is staffed by a full-time school nurse who is responsible for the everyday medical care of the students, supported by visiting NHS services and external specialists when required. The Health Centre contains a treatment room, a small office, and several private infirmary rooms for students who require observation, recovery time, or temporary isolation due to illness. Students with contagious infections remain in the infirmary until they are no longer considered infectious or until they can be collected by their families. The school nurse manages routine medical care, including first aid, medication administration, health records, and communication with parents or guardians. Every student receives regular health checks, including vision and hearing screenings, and students with chronic conditions, disabilities, or ongoing medication have individual care plans in place.
Because many Wammy’s students are twice-exceptional, the Health Centre also works closely with the school’s counsellors and social pedagogues. Support is available not only for physical health but also for mental wellbeing, sensory difficulties, anxiety, sleep problems, and the emotional challenges that often come with being a gifted child struggling in traditional environments.
The school works alongside the NHS for routine vaccination programmes. Visiting immunisation teams administer standard childhood and adolescent vaccinations on campus, including boosters for tetanus, diphtheria, polio and pertussis, as well as MMR and meningococcal vaccinations. Additional vaccinations may be offered where medically appropriate.
The lice epidemic at Wammy’s must’ve been insane. Matt and Mello keep sharing hats and starting it again. Bob boy refuses to cut his hair shorter. I like the thought of Mello catching lice first because it's associated with uncleanliness while Matt is the more disgusting bugger of the two and Matt using the opportunity to call Mello a filthy animal. It’s very funny bc the addage here is lice love clean hair. Doesn’t stop other kids thinking you’re dirty tho. But it’s to do w lice can grip easier to clean hair and less hazards for them to lay eggs. That's the monologue Mello keeps holding every time someone calls him out. Mello in Roger’s office like >:( hair being nit combed by Roger. Roger is taking a long ass vacation before spending any time with Mello. They hate each other so much. Roger like gross bug boy in his head. Rogers like "nuh uh i'm not getting paid nearly enough for this shit". “We have staff for this”. Mello sneaking into Roger’s room and rubbing all over his pillow before matts like “you remember he’s basically bald yeah?” “but he HAS hair” “For the three lice who will attach” Do lice attach to other body hair as well or are they head specific? They can - so can pubic lice. Matt at the optometrist and he steps away cause matts got pube lice in his eyelashes.
