I don't think they're making a big deal out of their birthdays. I can see Matt getting Mello presents every year despite Mello constantly telling him to not get him anything. Sometimes it's stupid shit based on inside jokes and sometimes it's genuinely well thought through. For some reason I can see them angrily throwing their present at the other like "HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU WANKER" -- don't know why

Matt macht Mello mal ein custom Messer mit nem Stück Titan, das er auf nem Schrottplatz gefunden hat. Das Ding ist auch ziemlich unförmig, aber vorne brutal scharf. Den Griff hat er mit nem Lederband umwickelt.

Mello benutzt das Ding auch. Inner Mafia denkt sich der ein oder andere “was zum Geier ist das für ein Messer??” und sie müssen irgendwie ne Tür aufstemmen oder so und Mello meint, pass auf, ich hebel das Ding auf, geh ma weg. und er tritt gegen den Griff vom Messer, das in nem Spalt steckt, was jedes andere Messer verbiegen würde, die Tür springt auf, das Messer ist heile. Geilo.

It really is such a thoughtful gift to give Mello; practical, unique, violent, edgy, phallic ... Matt really does understand him. So touching in a teen boy way.
