So at 14, Matt is going through a phase where he can't stand Chris at all and more or less actively rebels against him. He even thinks about not going back to Chris’ apartment anymore.

They have a massive blow up one time. Matt completely loses it and a whole wave of pent-up anger and disappointment bursts out of Matt. Matt throws some stuff at him that really hurt. Some things they maybe say:

• m “I don't even have a room to myself”
• m “This isn’t a home”
• m “you never make time for me, not even room”
• m “I've cleaned up so many times and you always clutter it all up again!”
• m “WHY DON’T YOU FINALLY GET A NORMAL JOB”
• m “I’M ASHAMED OF YOU”
• m "YOU ARE NEVER THERE FOR ME!"
• C "DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW HARD I’VE BEEN BUSTING MY ASS FOR BOTH OF US?!"
• m "BULLSHIT! INSTEAD OF GETTING A DECENT JOB, YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN DOING SOME BULLSHIT AND LEFT ME STUCK IN THIS SHIT HOLE OF A PLACE!"
• C "YOU DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT, MILES!"
• Chris is yelling and slaps him with “I get why your mum left you behind”

And so the last days of the holidays pass in bitterness, because they don't make up afterwards.

Chris drives Matt to Winchester, and they sit in the car for a moment in the parking lot in front of Wammy’s. Matt just wants to get away quickly, and Chris maybe tries to start making peace, but Matt completely blocks him off. Real Peter Parker & Uncle Ben moment.

Chris maybe asks for a hug (like always) or maybe just reaches out for a pat on the shoulder. Matt turns away, opens the door, gets out. Chris says goodbye with a "See you on visit day xy" "Yeah yeah sure..." “I’ll definitely make it thi-” and Matt slams the car door.

That was the last contact they had before L dies, Chris gets sent to witness protection and they lose contact for 6 years.
