- HA what kind of critters?? Oh damn maybe's one of those insect collectors. Maybe he has a wall of butterflies or something in their room

- I was originally thinking more of a focus on genetics but that works really well too
- there used to be a magazine in the uk when i was tiny
which was like a weekly bug info magazine
and they sent out like. bugs preserved in little resin containers
with a whole feature of info on the bug of the week or whatever
it was from national geographic i believe
i feel like. if helix is a biology guy (i'm loving the name link there),,,, this fits
it ran for YEARS with little bugs in glass/resin containers, i think it was called 'real-life bugs & insects' from national geographic!

- these!! and each issue had a different bug in a container on the front

So 1) What do you guys think Near has in his room? I mean beside toys, or better said what kind of toys?
2) What kind of relationship do Helix and Near have? Are they friends? I mean they surely get along, they're both low-conflict but are they anything else than roommates? What do you think?

- ahem. i think he has so many things that he plays with that aren't necessarily toys, like any kind of mechanism or things with interesting visual effects - as long as they can be integrated into something he's studying at the moment, however obscure the link, he'll take it
- soemwhat prone to hoarding but it's in boxes that have lids that close :) yes there's fifteen of them yes he needs them all
- and HMMMM ok so the main Near And Other Kids Scene is Linda trying to grab him away from his puzzle and he kinda. doesn't give a single shit, but it depends on how you wanna interpret it - is he bothered by the interaction, the person asking, is it that he doesn't care about the game he's being invited to ? and then depending on what Helix offers and your take on it that'd give you clues
- i feel like near would not put any effort into a relationship with a roommate in either direction-- imo hes just as disinterested in distancing himself intentionally as he is in befriending them, so it would really depend on how helix acts
- I think he has at least one selfmade Orrery standing around
- yeah agreed agreed. he's not very into links to other people imo, especially if they are... not competitive ? or at least on his terms, and only whenever he gets piqued
