So basically- this is when they're living apart and all, they haven't seen each other for a good while because Mello is busy scheming and trying to get into Rods gang the most dramatic way. And I don't know how exactly his plan goes but I always see him infiltrating a rival bosses HQ or crashing a party (I noted that this is around New Year's, so maybe the New Years eve party for maximum drama?) with a bunch of accomplices (they're not close, they just have the same goal) and they face off the boss and something goes wrong, someone is a little too triggerhappy and shoots the guy. And the whole group is like "WHAT THE FUCK DO WE DO NOW GENIUS" while Mello is just standing there blank faced but his mind is racing, calculating a new route with the new shitty situation and at one point he just goes "Gimme your knife" and he fucking goes to town on the guy cutting his head off while his teammates lose their goddamn minds over what the fuck is happening. Mello's thoughts were "okay we wanted him alive, now we can't carry the body unnoticed out of the building, too heavy etc etc etc etc -> just the head will do" something like that. Absolutely cold and calculated. And holy shit imagine the image of him standing there in the office with the firework going off in the window behind him, head in his fist, blood leaking So the group kinda goes off seperately cause holy shit Mello is insane and he throws the head in a bag in his car or something and rides off. And while he drives, his mind is racing racing and teh thinks, I can't go back home, where the fuck do I go now. Knock knock, open up Matt can I shower
